Wednesday Star Jenna Ortega Becomes A Jedi In New Star Wars Art

This brilliant Star Wars fan art features Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as a Jedi wielding a lightsaber. Star Wars movies and TV shows have long cast a mix of major stars and Hollywood newcomers, but it’s nevertheless exciting to imagine particular celebrities entering the Star Wars timeline. In fact, as many of Star Wars’ upcoming movies and Star Wars’ upcoming TV shows haven’t yet revealed their casts, the possibilities seem wide open.

Perhaps in light of that, this brilliant Star Wars fan art imagines Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega as a Jedi. The art, posted by alairebowen on Reddit, specifically shows Ortega in traditional Jedi robes and wielding a purple lightsaber.

In addition to this art being visually stunning, it is an excellent reminder of how thrilling certain Star Wars casting decisions can be.

Jenna Ortega Really Would Make A Brilliant Star Wars Addition

Jenna Ortega would bring something brand-new to Star Wars in a way that would no doubt prove fascinating. Although Ortega’s acting skills certainly mean she could play a variety of roles, her acting history thus far more than proves that she shines in a creepier role. In addition to Wednesday, Ortega has appeared in the psychological thriller You and in the Scream franchise. While Star Wars has yet to truly dip its toes into the horror genre waters, this turn would undoubtedly be an interesting turn for the franchise to take.

In fact, although The Acolyte was canceled, it did show that Star Wars is becoming more willing to play with genre. That show, set about 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, was a mystery thriller that involved a string of murders targeting the Jedi. Moreover, Star Wars’ upcoming show, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, will also introduce something new, as it will be a coming-of-age story following a group of children from an Earth-like planet as they are lost in the galaxy. Clearly, following the Skywalker Saga, the franchise is exploring brand-new genres.

Of course, the Star Wars fandom is not always the most welcoming when it comes to change. After all, The Acolyte faced significant backlash and continues to be targeted online in part because it deviated from Star Wars tradition in various ways. This raises questions about how well experimental shows or movies would be received in the future. In part, Skeleton Crew might serve as a bit of a litmus test, revealing whether many of the issues with The Acolyte were truly about the show or whether this is going to be a pervasive problem in the franchise moving forward.

Unfortunately, the latter seems more probable. However, Jenna Ortega is a brilliantly talented actress, and because she has such a massive following, she would likely bring a fanbase with her to the franchise. Of course, all of this is speculative; neither Star Wars nor Ortega seems to have plans to collaborate any time soon, if at all. Nevertheless, brilliant Star Wars art such as this reinforces how much possibility and potential there is in the franchise’s future.
