Terrifier 3 Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Debuts With Near-Perfect Rating

Terrifier 3 has earned a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes audience score. Although the Terrifier 3 release kicked off during the second weekend of October, it is set over Christmas, featuring Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) terrorizing survivors Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) and her brother Jonathan (Elliot Fullam) five years after the events of the previous installment. The movie, which was written and directed by franchise creator Damien Leone, only cost $2 million and is projected to earn more than five times that total during its opening weekend. Additionally, it has earned a strong 78% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now that Terrifier 3 has debuted in theaters, Rotten Tomatoes has also aggregated an official audience score for the movie on the Popcornmeter. The title, which has already amassed more than 250 verified user reviews, has earned a near-perfect 94% score at the time of writing. While this will likely fluctuate as more reviews are added, if it maintains a score of 90% or higher by the time it reaches 500 user reviews, it will earn a Verified Hot badge from the platform.

What This Means For Terrifier 3

The Third Installment Hits A New High

While the movie earned a slightly lower critic score than the previous installment, which is Certified Fresh at 86%, its audience score is so far the best of the franchise by far. Terrifier 3 reviews from audience members, which praise its intense brutality and sense of humor, have seen it debut more than 10% above the audience score for Terrifier 2, which was previously the highest of the series. Below, see how the new movie’s audience score compares to every movie in the overarching Art the Clown franchise:

Title

RT Audience Score

All Hallows’ Eve (2013)

36%

Terrifier (2016)

53%

Terrifier 2 (2022)

80%

Terrifier 3 (2024)

94%

At the time of writing, the gap between the highest-rated and lowest-rated Art the Clown movies is a whopping 58%. This does not seem likely to change, as Terrifier 3 is being praised across a variety of user review platforms. This includes earning 7.0 out of 10 on IMDb, 10 out of 10 on Screen Rant‘s own user review platform, 6.5 out of 10 on Metacritic, and 3.3 out of 5 on Letterboxd.

Our Take On The Terrifier 3 Audience Score

The Franchise Shows Great Promise

This strong audience response to Terrifier 3, which seems to be directly reflected by the movie’s box office projections suggesting that it may debut to a total that is nearly two-thirds what the previous movie earned in its entire run, shows that the franchise still has legs. This is good news for the future, as Terrifier 4 is already in development. While the movie is intended to be the final installment of the franchise, if it succeeds at the level of this new outing, the universe of Art the Clown may continue to expand after its release.
