Scarlett Johansson’s Elastic Girl, Millie Bobby Brown’s Violet & More Cast In The Incredibles Live-Action Concept Trailer

A fan-made trailer reveals exactly what The Incredibles would look like in live-action form. The franchise began in 2004 with Brad Bird’s original animated hit. Having earned $631.6 million on a sub-$150 million budget, it won two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing. A follow-up was eventually released in 2018 and earned over $1 billion on a $200 million budget. The Incredibles 3 was already confirmed, though it does not yet have a release date.

As the franchise has always been animated, the idea of a live-action adaptation is tantalizing. With the help of AI, YouTuber Multiverse of Movies created a trailer that shows off exactly what Scarlett Johansson (Elasti-Girl), Millie Bobby Brown (Violet), and other stars would look like in Brad Bird’s superhero universe:

Alongside those stars, Kevin James (Mr. Incredible), Jacob Tremblay (Dash), Jamie Foxx (Frozone), Helena Carter (Edna), Neil Patrick Harris (Syndrome), Charlize Theron (Mirage), Tommy Lee Jones (Rick Dicker), and Steve Carell (Gilbert Huph) all take up roles in the trailer’s reimagining of the franchise. Each actor is depicted in at least two shots that see them in different poses, costumes, and settings. The only character who is not cast is Jack-Jack, who could realistically be portrayed by nearly any infant.

While the trailer is certainly fun to watch, it is fan-made and has no wider implications.

The trailer is not an official announcement, nor does it indicate that Disney and Pixar are considering a live-action adaptation. While Disney has seen success with live-action adaptations of classic hits, The Incredibles is not among the upcoming movies that have been announced. While the trailer is certainly fun to watch, it is fan-made and has no wider implications.

Our Take On The Live-Action Incredibles Trailer

A Live-Action Incredibles Has Already Been Done

While the official characters have never appeared in a live-action feature movie, there is proof that it could work. After all, Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie is essentially just this franchise in live-action form. Sue Storm has the same powers as Violet, The Thing has the powers of Mr. Incredible, Reed Richards can do everything that Elasti-Girl can, and the only major difference is that Dash and Johnny Storm do not have the same powers. The 2005 Fantastic Four movie achieved profitability and success, which is a sign that a live-action Incredibles movie can as well.

Later Fantastic Four movies struggled, but there is a chance that a live-action adaptation for this franchise could become a success in the same vein as the Lion King and The Jungle Book adaptations. The animation style played a significant role in the movie’s success and the expressiveness of the characters. If Disney ever does choose to develop a movie in live-action, it will have a significant cost, given the VFX work required. Still, The Incredibles‘ live-action depiction would depend on execution and good casting.
