Padmé finally gets to see what became of Anakin in Star Wars after her death on Mustafar thanks to one lighthearted cosplay video. Padmé and Anakin’s romance begins in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones when Anakin is stationed on her home planet of Naboo to protect her from assassins. They initially wrestle with the logistics of having a secret romance despite the strict Jedi Code, but eventually give in to their feelings and marry in a secret ceremony. Their unhappy ending comes swiftly, and when Anakin falls to the dark side, Padmé is killed in her attempt to convince him to come home.
Outfitted in the beautiful dress Padmé wears when she and Anakin share their first kiss on Naboo, cosplayer SouthernSoloBelle posted her interaction with Vader on TikTok.
Doubling down on the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones references, she quotes Padmé’s words to Anakin when the two reunite after two years apart. This time, however, “My goodness, you’ve grown,” takes on a new meaning as the former Anakin looms over Padmé in his bulky suit. That doesn’t seem to bother Padmé, who follows her husband as she wields a red lightsaber of her own.

Anakin Had To Lose Padmé To Become Darth Vader
Padmé Amidala
The elected Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala won galactic acclaim for her heroism when she led her people against the Trade Federation. She became an influential member of the Republic Senate, but her life changed forever when she fell in love with Anakin Skywalker. Padmé Amidala found herself torn between her love for Anakin and her belief in the principles of the Republic, especially when Anakin became Darth Vader. She was brutally attacked by Anakin on Mustafar, and died in childbirth.
Anakin’s tragic transformation into Darth Vader was rooted in his fear of losing Padmè. Though there were many factors that made his descent into the dark side easy, Anakin’s desire to save Padmé from death inspired him to prevent the Jedi from arresting Palpatine and pledge himself to the Sith Lord. Though he soon becomes consumed with his new power, Anakin is initially incredibly distraught over his choice and the actions he takes as a result. When Padmé tracks him down on Mustafar, it’s entirely possible that she could have convinced him to leave the Emperor behind.
After Padmé’s death, however, Anakin’s anger and hate take hold of him completely. He risked everything to save her, and after she’s gone, he has nothing left to return to. Without her, Anakin falls deeper and deeper into the dark side until he becomes the very weapon that Palpatine meant to turn him into. As unfortunate as this turn of events is for Anakin, his family, and the galaxy as a whole, Star Wars simply would not be able to exist if all of Anakin’s sacrifices to save Padmé had actually been successful.
