Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, the horror film follows a female FBI agent assigned to track down an occultist serial killer who has murdered multiple families across Oregon, despite not being physically present at the crime scenes. The cast is led by Maika Monroe alongside an unrecognizable Nicolas Cage as the titular serial killer, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Michelle Choi-Lee, Dakota Daulby, and Kiernan Shipka.
Now, just over a month after its release in theaters, the acclaimed horror movie has reached an impressive box office milestone. According to Collider, Longlegs has passed the $90 million mark at the global box office. Currently, its global gross breaks down to $71.7 million domestically and another $18.3 million internationally.
Will Longlegs Reach $100M At The Box Office?
There’s One Caveat That Could Prevent It
The $90 million mark is just the latest, but might not be the last milestone that Longlegs reaches at the global box office. It was already Neon’s highest-grossing movie of all time, with the indie distributor’s previous domestic record set by Bong Joon-ho’s Best Picture winner Parasite, which finished its run with $53 million in 2020. Longlegs‘ success is particularly notable during a year that has been challenging for the horror genre, with major studio releases like Abigail ($42 million), Imaginary ($43 million), and Night Swim ($54 million) all underperforming at the box office.

Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs broke records at the box office during its opening weekend, and several reasons can account for the horror film’s success.
Other counts currently have Longlegs‘ worldwide gross at $94 million, which puts the century mark well within its crosshairs. However, there is one caveat that could hold it back, as the movie is expected to debut on digital platforms in just a few days. However, Neon would be wise to hold off, considering it’s still passing impressive milestones at the box office, and has a realistic chance of crossing the century mark, further solidifying itself as the second-biggest horror hit of 2024 so far, behind only A Quiet Place: Day One ($260 million).
Longlegs‘ extended theatrical run has played a key role in its ongoing box office success, as opposed to Universal’s approach with The Fall Guy and Twisters, which had fairly short theatrical windows before being released on VOD. Longlegs‘ reviews and positive word of mouth have played a large part too, with much buzz about the movie’s unsettling atmosphere and wildly intense performance from Cage. However, considering its impending digital debut, $90 million may be Longlegs‘ last box office milestone.
