The film follows Andy Goodrich (Keaton), a museum owner whose wife enters rehab, leaving him to care for their young twins alone. As he navigates modern parenthood, he relies on his daughter Grace (Mila Kunis) from his first marriage, ultimately becoming the father she never had. So far, the reviews for Goodrich have been generally positive, as it marks his first movie since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Goodrich currently holds a 70% score on their Tomatometer, based on 27 critic reviews. It currently doesn’t have an audience score since the movie has just been released. Nevertheless, this validation by critics follows the success of his return as the titular character in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was a hit with fans and critics alike.

The Actor Has a Decent Track Record
Long-gestating sequels have been received with mixed reviews in recent years. Bill & Ted Face the Music and Blade Runner 2049 were both met favorably by critics, but Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Matrix Resurrections, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife all received lukewarm receptions. However, not only did Beetlejuice Beetlejuice receive the Certified Fresh score of 77%, it also received an audience score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes’ newly rebranded Popcorn Meter. This is thanks in a big part to Keaton.

Even when he is in a thankless role like the villainous Adrian Toomes/Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Keaton is giving it everything he’s got with his performances. A film like Goodrich allows Keaton to showcase his comedic talents as well as demonstrate his dramatic abilities, and critics are once again praising him for his efforts.
