Ian McKellen has been told that The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will be two movies. The legendary actor previously shared that he had been approached to reprise his role as Gandalf for the upcoming franchise installment directed by Andy Serkis. The film is slated for a 2026 release and is expected to see Serkis reprising his role as Gollum while the creature is being hunted prior to the events of The Fellowship of the Ring.
In an interview with This Morning, McKellen shared that he has been informed that The Hunt for Gollum will be split into two movies, although he has not read a script yet and does not know any details about its production. Check out the interview and his comments below:
I’m told it’s two films. I probably shouldn’t be saying that, but I haven’t read the script, and I don’t know when it is, and I don’t even know where it’ll be filmed.
More to come…
