Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar-Jones passionately stare at each other in the first image from On Swift Horses. Based on the novel of the same name by Shannon Pufahl, the film follows a married couple keen on beginning a bright new chapter in their life after the husband returns home from the Korean War, which is upended by the arrival of his charming younger brother. Other than the Euphoria and Twisters stars, the film’s cast includes Will Poulter, Diego Calva, Sasha Calle, and Don Swayze.
Now, ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the first look at On Swift Horses has been revealed via IndieWire. Check out the image below:

On Swift Horses starts with Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and her husband Lee (Poulter) beginning a bright new chapter in their lives following his return from the Korean War, though their plans are disrupted by the arrival of Lee’s younger brother, Julius (Elordi). Lee hopes the three of them can start fresh together in California, though Julius instead goes to Las Vegas, takes a job at a casino, and starts a secret romance with a male co-worker, Henry (Calva). Meanwhile, Muriel begins her own secret adventure in San Diego, betting on racehorses and uncovering a love she never expected.
Calva has said that he and Elordi have “some pretty hot scenes” together in On Swift Horses, making it the perfect follow-up to Euphoria and Saltburn, both of which also contain some wildly graphic scenes involving Elordi. His co-star, Edgar-Jones, is certainly no stranger to intimate content either, as she gained recognition with her starring role alongside Paul Mescal in the Hulu miniseries Normal People, which received particular praise for its realistic sex scenes involving the two lead characters.

On Swift Horses is directed by Daniel Minahan, with Bryce Kass having adapted the script. The former is better known for television, having directed episodes of the HBO series Six Feet Under, Deadwood, True Blood, The Newsroom, and Game of Thrones. With On Swift Horses starring several up-and-coming actors who have already been nominated for several awards, the film could be a contender this coming awards season. For now, it’s set to premiere at TIFF, one of two period pieces starring Elordi that is debuting at the festival, the other being Paul Schrader’s Oh, Canada.
