Den Of Thieves 2 Trailer 2

The second trailer for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has debuted. The sequel picks up immediately after Den of Thieves as Nick “Big Nick” O’Brien (Gerard Butler) tracks down Donnie Wilson (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) following his escape to Europe. Den of Thieves 2‘s story sees Donnie already underway with his plan that involves a massive heist at the world’s largest diamond exchange. In addition to Butler and Jackson returning, Meadow Williams reprises her role as Holly from the first movie.

Now, Lionsgate has released the second trailer for Den of Thieves 2, showcasing Nick’s hunt for Donnie taking a surprising turn as he seemingly joins forces with him. Watch the trailer below:

While Nick vows to catch Donnie, claiming that no one ever gets away from him, he pretends that he does not recognize Donnie when the authorities have footage of him. More importantly, Nick joins Donnie’s latest heist and begins working alongside him, with Donnie declaring that “the cop goes gangster” as Nick creates mayhem around Europe.

What This Means For Den Of Thieves 2

Nick’s Role Will Be Different In The Sequel

Nick and Donnie working together provides a significant shift from the previous movie. While Nick’s skills make it appear as though he is thriving as a member of Donnie’s latest heist, it is difficult to believe that Nick is now a full-on criminal. Den of Thieves‘ ending made Nick realize that Donnie was the mastermind of the heist. In order to catch Donnie this time, Nick has to find a way to outsmart him, with his strategy seemingly being to go undercover and to sabotage this new heist from within.

Donnie will undoubtedly be wary of Nick suddenly being a criminal, while Nick will need to be convincing about why he has willingly joined this heist.

With Butler and Jackson leading Den of Thieves 2‘s cast, it makes sense to give Nick and Donnie more scenes together and to further complicate their dynamic. Donnie will undoubtedly be wary of Nick suddenly being a criminal, while Nick will need to be convincing about why he has willingly joined this heist. This will likely build to an explosive finale featuring a violent confrontation between the two characters as the outcome of the heist and their lives hang in the balance.

Our Take On Den Of Thieves 2’s Trailer

The Sequel Will Provie Payoff For The First Movie’s Ending

The first Den of Thieves is underrated and is one of Gerard Butler’s best action movies. Given the unfinished business between Nick and Donnie at the end of the first movie, a sequel was definitely needed, but the followup story is proving to be even more compelling than anticipated given the direction of the story teased in the marketing. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is shaping up to be a rewarding continuation that amplifies all the best elements from its predecessor.
