The new thriller movie Crime 101 adds a major actor. Crime 101 is about a detective named Lou Lubesnick who is trying to track down a jewel thief attempting the perfect heist. It is directed by Bart Layton and so far has an announced cast including Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan. The film is based on a short story by Don Winslow, and its script is written by Layton.
As per Variety, Crime 101 has now added a new cast member. Said new cast member is Halle Berry. Berry’s specific role in the film has not been confirmed. According to the source, Berry is in final negotiations for the part. The source also revealed that Crime 101 is set to begin filming in two weeks.
What This Casting Means For Crime 101
Crime 101 Has An Exciting Mixture Of Cast Members
Berry’s role in Crime 101 continues the actor’s streak of big films. Earlier this year, she acted in the mixed-reviewed Netflix film The Union, which starred her as a spy who loops her ex-boyfriend (Mark Wahlberg) into her crime-filled lifestyle. She also appeared in the lead role for the horror film Never Let Go, which released in theaters last month. With Crime 101, Berry stays in a similar genre in that she is still acting in a thriller. This will continue the actor’s hot streak and also add an A-lister to the already stacked film.
Hemsworth, Ruffalo, and Keoghan are a draw to the film on their own. Keoghan’s career has taken off in recent years, as the actor was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin and made a splash with his hit part in Saltburn. Saltburn went viral on platforms like TikTok, making it more likely that a younger audience might be drawn in by Keoghan. Berry and Ruffalo may draw in an older, seasoned movie crowd, giving Crime 101 a potential cross-generational appeal.

Our Take On The Crime 101 Casting
The Crime 101 Cast Is Exciting
I am excited for the balance that Berry will provide to Crime 101. After all, Berry is an Oscar winner (for Monster’s Ball in 2002), and she has shown her strength in countless feature films. I think that she could add a lot to this thrilling film, balancing out her strong co-stars. Director Layton has also shown his strength in the thriller genre with films like The Imposter and American Animals. By the time Crime 101 is released, it will have been over six years since the director has release a film, making Crime 101 his exciting return.
