Avatar 3 Art Imagines Fire Na’vi Tribe As Menacing Villains In James Cameron’s Sequel

Summary

  • Avatar: Fire and Ash will introduce the Ash People tribe, adding depth to Pandora’s world-building.
  • The fan art of the Ash People by Sahin Düzgün hints at potential conflict and antagonism in the upcoming film.
  • The movie’s cast includes new characters like Na’vi Peylak and Varang, setting the stage for explosive conflicts.

A new piece of fan art imagines what the Fire Na’vi tribe will look like for the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. The James Cameron-directed third installment in the Avatar franchise will introduce the “Ash People” of Pandora, thus furthering the series’ world-building. The previous film, 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, moved the story away from the forest and introduced the Metkayina tribe, who have developed a bond with water and the sea. Further sequels are expected to delve into Pandora’s other clans, as evidenced by the third movie’s story.

On Instagram, artist Sahin Düzgün imagined what the Ash People would look like as the main villains of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Check out the piece of art below:

With the caption “All I see is red,” a fictional Na’vi, who is a part of the Ash People, looks at the audience while fire rages in the background. The image mimics the original Avatar poster, which featured half of Neytiri’s face in extreme close-up.

Everything We Know About Avatar: Fire and Ash

The Upcoming Movie Releases In Theaters In December 2025

While plot details for Avatar: Fire and Ash remain sparse, certain elements of the highly anticipated third installment have already been revealed to the public. For once, it will introduce David Thewlis to the franchise as Na’vi Peylak, who will not only appear in the upcoming film, but will also be in Avatar 4 and 5. Reports were made about Michelle Yeoh appearing in the third film as Dr. Karina Mogue, but she will instead be introduced in the upcoming fourth film.

The leader of Avatar‘s Ash People clan is named Varang, and will be portrayed by Game of Thrones‘ Oona Chaplin. Not much is known about them, but they will be the central part of the movie’s story. It is heavily rumored that they will be the antagonists and could even oppose the Metkayina tribe, but Cameron has revealed few details. Nevertheless, the title Fire and Ash gives the impression of destruction and explosive conflict, and the Ash People could very well be the cause of that.

Though many expect Avatar 4 and 5 to focus on additional tribes within Pandora, there have been rumors that the movies will also revisit Earth.

Stephen Lang is also expected to return as Quaritch, and will be, once again, the main antagonist. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Cliff Curtis will also reprise their roles as Jake Sully, Neytiri, Kiri, Ronal, and Tonowari, respectively. Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to release in theaters on December 19, 2025, and could be even bigger than 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, should Cameron stay true to his vision for the franchise.
