For the past two years, Anime Expo has been sponsoring AX Cinema Nights, an event where anime films both old and new are brought to theaters for a limited-time viewing. Great films such as A Silent Voice and the entire film catalog of the legendary Satoshi Kon have been part of the event, and because of that, it’s quickly become an iconic part of the community.
AX Cinema Nights has always been a great way for people to see quality anime films, and 2024 will be no different in that regard. The lineup for AX Cinema Nights 2024 was previously announced at Anime Expo 2024 to feature films that are new to the program, some old favorites, and even a concert of a famous Japanese group, and starting today, tickets for all programs featured in AX Cinema Nights 2024 are available for purchase online.
This year’s lineup is looking to be the best one yet, and any anime fan would be remiss to pass it up.

AX Cinema Nights 2024’s Full Lineup
The lineup for AX Cinema Nights 2024 is a mixture of old events for the program and new. For old events, Paprika will be played in theaters in January 2025 and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie in February 2025, with both films previously featuring in AX Cinema Nights 2023. With Paprika, though, Paprika’s inclusion in AX Cinema Nights 2024 is in celebration of its 15th anniversary and will be shown in 4K for the first time, so even people who saw Paprika last year are sure to get a lot out of it.
As for the new programming, headlining AX Cinema Nights 2024 in September 2024 is the classic anime film Ninja Scroll in celebration of its 30th anniversary, with the showing being accompanied by an exclusive interview with director Yoshiaki Kawajiri. Following that, AX Cinema Nights will show Metropolis, the film adaptation of one of Osamu Tezuka’s first serialized works, in November, and in a change from the norm, the final performance of the most recent tour of legendary metal band Babymetal will be shown in theaters in December.
