Disney reveals the first trailer for its live-action Snow White. Set to release in the spring of 2025, the latest addition to the House of Mouse’s growing list of live-action remakes will star Rachel Zegler as the titular princess, and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Snow White hails from The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Marc Webb, with Barbie‘s Greta Gerwig co-writing the script with The Girl on the Train‘s Erin Cressida Wilson.

As part of its special D23 presentation, Disney revealed the first trailer for Snow White. Check it out below:

The trailer reveals a new look at Zegler’s transformation into the iconic Disney heroine, including a snippet of her performing “Whistle While You Work”. The footage also unveils Gadot’s Evil Queen, with the Wonder Woman actor fully embodying the malevolent side of the villain as she speaks into the Magic Mirror and transforms into the old woman disguise to give Snow White the poison apple.

Disney’s Snow White Remake Looks To Be The Most Promising Yet

In addition to new looks at Zegler’s titular character and Gadot’s Evil Queen, the new Snow White trailer also offers a closer look at how the live-action remake will be adapting the dwarf characters as CGI creations. During the filming of the remake, this drew particular criticism from both the public and those living with dwarfism, with some even calling for the film to be reshot with appropriately cast actors. While it remains unclear if audiences will be open to the decision to make them CGI, the near 1–1 translations of them from the animated classic does mark a nice honoring of the classic characters.

Regardless of some of Snow White‘s behind-the-scenes controversies, the Snow White trailer does point to it being one of the more promising of Disney’s live-action remakes. Many prior efforts have found themselves criticized for either veering too closely or too far from their original titles, with 2017’s Beauty and the Beast and 2019’s The Lion King, in particular, being noted as too similar to warrant standing on their own. Snow White, on the other hand, looks to be making some interesting changes to its source movie.

Every Upcoming Live-Action Disney Remake In Development

There are over a dozen Disney live-action remakes currently in development. Here’s which movies are coming, when they’ll release, and who’ll star.

One of the most notable is the relationship between the titular princess and her love interest, who was a prince in the original movie, though the live-action Snow White seems to be taking the character in a different direction. Though only glimpsed briefly in the new trailer, it does look as though Webb and co. aim to bring a more nuanced take to the character and his relationship with Snow White, which could go a long way to updating the classic story for a modern audience in a meaningful fashion.
