The movie will be the third installment in the science fiction franchise from writer-director James Cameron, the first two installments of which are among the Top 3 highest-grossing movies of all time. While the original movie introduced the moon Pandora and its indigenous race, the Na’vi, its sequel The Way of Water explored Pandora’s oceans and the water tribes that inhabit them. For some time, rumors have been flying that the upcoming Avatar 3 would introduce a fire tribe that inhabits Pandora’s volcanic region.

The X post, via the official Avatar account, confirms the news and teases “Get ready to journey back to Pandora.” During the event, Cameron also teased that the movie will introduce new villains and biomes and feature higher emotional stakes, “more than ever before.”
