The digital release date for Joker: Folie à Deux has been revealed. Joker: Folie à Deux‘s reviews have been largely negative among critics and general audiences since the movie’s debut, with a 33% critical score and 32% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Joker sequel has also been a box office disaster and is set to lose $150-200 million by the end of its theatrical run. This is a particularly disappointing outcome after the 2019 Joker movie grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
According to Variety, Joker: Folie à Deux will be available on home entertainment platforms on October 29, less than a month after the Joaquin Phoenix-led movie first released in theaters on October 4. By comparison, the sequel’s predecessor debuted in theaters on October 4, 2019, and was not available on digital platforms until more than two months later, on December 17. For the time being, Joker: Folie à Deux is still playing in theaters.

Joker: Folie à Deux‘s digital release date is another sign of the movie’s disappointing box office performance. After the sequel performed poorly during its first two weeks in theaters, Warner Bros. will soon make it available to watch from home in the hopes that digital purchases can help them recoup at least some of their financial losses. It is worth noting that the window between theatrical and digital release has generally grown smaller across the industry since 2019, but does not make this result any less disappointing.
