A Friday Night Lights star joins Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s new thriller movie, RIP. Friends since childhood, Damon and Affleck have collaborated on many movies over the years, including 1997’s Good Will Hunting, which won them an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2022, Damon and Affleck founded their own production company, Artists Equity, and released their first film, Air, in 2023. Their studio is now partnering with Netflix for its next film, RIP, a crime thriller directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces).
Now, the cast of Damon and Affleck’s new Netflix crime thriller is continuing to grow. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of RIP and will play an unnamed DEA agent. This will mark the second time that Chandler and Affleck have starred together after Argo, the 2013 Best Picture winner. RIP is set to begin filming later this month in Miami and Los Angeles.

Our Take On Kyle Chandler’s Casting In RIP
He’s A Great Choice For A DEA Agent
Though Kyle Chandler is perhaps best known for his Emmy-winning performance as Coach Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights, in movies, he’s a character actor who is commonly typecast and frequently plays federal agents and members of law enforcement. He’s played a local sheriff in Super 8, a CIA station chief in Zero Dark Thirty, and an FBI agent in The Wolf of Wall Street, just to name a few. Given his past film roles, Kyle Chandler is a great choice to play a DEA agent in RIP.
RIP does not yet have a release date.
