Over the past four years, nearly all his films have Rotten scores, including Boneyard (44%), Confidential Informant (0%), On the Line (20%), Hot Seat (15%), Father Stu (43%), Agent Game (21%), Panama (7%), Dangerous (29%), Fatman (44%), and Force of Nature (8%). Within this same timeframe, he only has four films with Fresh scores – Desperation Road (60%), Bandit (71%), Last Looks (67%), and Boss Level (74%).
Mel Gibson was once one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars for more than two decades, evolving from an action hero to an Oscar-winning director with the historical epic Braveheart in 1995. However, his popularity in Hollywood declined after a series of legal troubles and controversial remarks that were leaked to the public. However, it was recently revealed that Passion of the Christ 2 is making progress. While the original movie was polarizing, it is the type of prestige picture with cultural relevance that Gibson should be focusing on, and not Monster Summer, if he’s interested in reviving his career.
