Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has tripled its budget by passing a major global milestone. The new Tim Burton movie is a legacy sequel to his original 1988 horror-comedy featuring the return of Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz alongside a new ensemble cast that includes Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Arthur Conti. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice box office made a splash when it opened to $111 million, a total that already exceeded the worldwide gross of the entire run of the original movie.

Per Warner Bros. Pictures, as of Sunday morning, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is projected to close its third weekend in theaters by bringing its global box office total to a cumulative gross of $329.7 million. This pushes it past the $300 million milestone, which means it has more than tripled its reported budget of roughly $100 million. Because a movie’s break-even point is typically between two and two-and-a-half times its production budget, this means that the movie is likely now officially earning a profit. It is only the twelfth 2024 release to pass this milestone, with the most recent being Alien: Romulus.

More to come…
