Boba Fett takes on the firepower of a fully operational Imperial Star Destroyer in a short but most impressive fan-made Star Wars animation clip. The Bounty Hunter made his big-screen debut in The Empire Strikes Back as one of the Bounty Hunters enlisted by Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) to track down the Millenium Falcon following the Battle of Hoth. While his fate beyond the original trilogy in canon was a mystery for many years, The Mandalorian season 2 would confirm Boba’s survival and The Book of Boba Fett would show his new life as Daimyo.
Though Boba’s future Star Wars adventures are uncertain, X user Dayton envisioned a potential new adventure following his return to the galaxy in a brief, but spectacular animation. Animated and rendered across several months, the short clip sees Boba evading the turbo laser fire of an Imperial Star Destroyer in the Slave One, leaving the vessel a deadly surprise in the form of a seismic charge. Alongside his impressive animation, Dayton has seamlessly blended existing footage of Fett in the Firespray’s cockpit from both The Mandalorian and Attack of the Clones, making his brief clip seem all the more professionally made.
What Boba Fett Fighting The Empire Would’ve Meant For Star Wars
Few Considered Fighting For The Rebellion A Profitable Prospect.
At the height of its power, the Galactic Empire was a domineering force that often had the Rebel Alliance on its backfoot, even after the opposition left the governing power with several major blows to morale and infrastructure. As such, while Boba Fett may have been a formidable fighter with his name known across the galaxy, he may not have been of much use to the Alliance beyond being a useful agent in certain scenarios.
While the Hutts would face Imperial scrutiny following The Battle of Yavin, their power still left them a vital ally to the Empire, though they would engage in smaller dealings against the ruling power on occasion.
Furthermore, with Boba having loyalties to the Hutt Cartel syndicate during the Galactic Civil War, his hands may have been tied, as the organization had arranged an alliance with the Empire. As such, Boba would be forced to choose between aiding the alliance and staying loyal to his employers, and while he held a code, Boba may ultimately side with the best offer.
Boba Could Still Go Head-To-Head With The Imperial Remnant
Boba’s New Lease On Life Turned Him Into A Fairer Ruler
In the wake of the Galactic Civil War and the post-Empire period, the situation is very different. Through his time with the Tusken Tribes, Boba was able to rediscover the importance of community and unity, especially in the most lawless areas of the galaxy, something that would inspire how he’d rule as Daimyo. Furthermore, he has no qualms about turning on Imperial Remnants, as seen when he aids efforts to recover Grogu from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).
The Empire’s rule emboldened the many factions he faced in The Book of Boba Fett, from Pyke’s expanding operations to the mistreatment of non-human groups and indigenous peoples like the Tusken Tribes. As such, with Boba setting up shop in Mos Espa and other settlements across Tatooine as a fair and just Daimyo, it is unlikely that he would stand for anything that could bring about the old ways he once served. As such, the fan-made animation is a stunning capture of how Boba’s attitude towards the Empire may be depicted going forward in the Star Wars universe.
While Boba is motivated by profit, his The Clone Wars arc and Age of Rebellion one-shot comic showcase some of his more positive attributes, even when he was considered more of an antagonist.
