Jennifer Lopez has joined Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy movie Office Romance. Lopez previously starred in the Netflix movies The Mother and Atlas, both of which were produced by Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions. Since Ted Lasso ended, Goldstein has been involved in a variety of projects, including as an actor, writer, and producer in the upcoming release of Apple TV+’s Shrinking season 2.
As per Deadline, Lopez joins the cast of Office Romance following a competitive bidding war that Netflix ultimately won. In addition to being one of the movie’s lead stars, Goldstein is an executive producer and is co-writing the script alongside Joe Kelly, who also worked on Ted Lasso, and the script reportedly features several great character actor roles. Lopez is an executive producer as well, with Office Romance being the latest project in a multiyear deal that Nuyorican Productions has with Netflix.
What Casting Jennifer Lopez And Brett Goldstein Means For Office Romance
Netflix Has Many Reasons To Trust In Lopez & Goldstein
While Lopez’s previous Netflix movies, The Mother and Atlas, were both critically panned, they were streaming hits in terms of the viewership they brought to Netflix. The Mother is the ninth all-time most-watched Netflix original movie at 136.4 million views. While critical reception is important, Netflix is placing more value on the star power and audience that Lopez brings to the platform, and happily continuing that partnership with Office Romance.

Office Romance being a romantic comedy marks a significant genre switch from The Mother and Atlas, with the former being an action thriller and the latter being a science-fiction action movie. Netflix has plenty of reason to be impressed with Goldstein’s work as an actor, writer, and producer on Ted Lasso and Shrinking, with both Apple TV+ comedy shows being well-received by critics and general audiences. Office Romance is still in its early stages but has gained significant momentum with the creative team it has assembled and the promising script that has been written.
Our Take On Office Romance
Lopez & Goldstein Are An Exciting Pairing
I have enjoyed both Lopez and Goldstein’s work in the past and am intrigued to see their chemistry in a romantic comedy. Goldstein and Kelly co-writing the script makes me hopeful that some of the best elements of Ted Lasso will be present in the Netflix movie. The mention of several great character roles in the script is also enticing, teasing that Lopez and Goldstein will not be the only highlights. Office Romance has the promise to be as big of a streaming hit as Lopez’s previous Netflix movies while also garnering a more favorable reception.
