Kinds Of Kindness Ending Explained

The ending of Kinds of Kindness is uncomfortably funny. We break down the film’s biggest moments, including what it all means & how they’re linked.

The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Kinds of Kindness reviews were generally positive, resulting in a 71% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics called the film a cold-hearted triptych filled with sharp, dark humor that showcases Yorgos Lanthimos at his most cynical, and wickedly humorous yet. However, once Kinds of Kindness was released in theaters in June, where it grossed only $14.9 million, audiences were divided over some of its strange and off-kilter storylines, resulting in a 48% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, recently renamed the Popcornmeter.

Our Take On Kinds Of Kindness’ Streaming Success

Audiences Are Likely Unaware For What They’re In For

Emma Stone is one of the most supremely talented actresses working today, winning Academy Awards for La La Land and Poor Things. Stone’s star power alone is enough of a draw for audiences to stream Kinds of Kindness, but many who do are surely surprised by just how uncompromisingly absurdist it is. Of the many who are streaming the movie, it’s likely only the most committed fans of Yorgos Lanthimos who are truly enjoying all the absurdism, and excellent performances that it has to offer.
