The trailer for Caddo Lake, produced by M. Night Shyamalan, promises a dark mystery led by Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen. It’s a busy time for the singular Shyamalan, who is coming off his latest buzzy thriller Trap starring Josh Hartnett. He also produced the moody horror drama The Watchers, directed by his daughter Ishana Shyamalan, which counts Stephen King among its supporters. O’Brien is set for a busy few months as well, with a role in the SNL movie Saturday Night, which releases on October 11, while Scanlen is set to lead the crime series Dope Girls.
Max has now released the first teaser trailer for Caddo Lake, ahead of the movie’s premiere on the streaming service on October 10.
The brief preview reveals O’Brien and Scanlen’s characters and teases more about the disappearance at the center of the story.

It’s Inspired By A Real Place
The mystery examines what happens when an 8-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes on the titular lake, leading to a series of past deaths and disappearances beginning to link together that forever alter a broken family’s history. Caddo Lake is based on an original idea, though it draws from a real place. Shyamalan produces through his Blinding Edge Pictures production company. It has a multi-year, first-look deal with Warner Bros.
Based on an original idea, the movie is written and directed by Celine Held & Logan George and was previously titled The Vanishings at Caddo Lake. The film is inspired by a real place, as the directors saw a photo of the real Caddo Lake online and took many visits to the forest that is located between Texas and Louisiana. The film has long been in the works, with news of the project dating back to 2021.
Held and George previously helmed the drama Topside, a drama about a mother and her five-year-old daughter who live in the abandoned subway tunnels of New York City.
Along with O’Brien, known for his roles in Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner, and Scanlen, who worked with Shyamalan on Old, the Caddo Lake cast includes Diana Hopper, Caroline Falk Sam Hennings, Eric Lange, and Yellowjackets star Lauren Ambrose. It will finally be reaching audiences on streaming, in time for Halloween, after a long period of waiting.
