Inside Out 2 has now surpassed Jurassic World to become the eighth highest grossing film of all time. The Pixar sequel previously moved past Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of The Lion King to become the ninth all-time highest grossing film. Inside Out 2‘s record-breaking box office has also made it the top-performing movie of 2024, along with being the highest grossing movie not only by Pixar, but among all animated films that have ever been released.
According to Box Office Mojo, Inside Out 2 has now earned $1.675 billion at the worldwide box office, which puts it ahead of Jurassic World‘s $1.671 billion lifetime gross. The next film ahead of Inside Out 2 on the all-time top 10 list is 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed $1.926 billion, and has done better at the box office than any other Spider-Man installment to date. Can Inside Out 2 Climb Any Higher In The All-Time Top 10?
It Has Been Unstoppable So Far
Inside Out 2‘s dominant box office run has been unprecedented for an animated film, and the sequel continues to break records nearly three months after its theatrical debut. The extent of this box office success far exceeded expectations and has been helped by the longevity of the film’s theatrical run. Before it was released, Disney emphasized that Inside Out 2 would be in theaters for 100 days before it became available to stream on Disney+.

This has helped the sequel tremendously, as viewers have had to go to theaters to see it, or otherwise wait more than three months and miss out on the excitement surrounding 2024’s biggest movie. The 100-day release window will soon be closing, though, which will conclude Inside Out 2‘s box office domination. In a week, it went from $1.666 billion to $1.675 billion in order to surpass Jurassic World, but going from $1.675 billion to Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $1.926 billion is another matter entirely.
